Little Bear & Eric

A word from our founder & host Richard "Little Bear" Wheeler:

Over the course of thirty years of evangelistic ministry, I have made it my life's call to share with people in our great nation, as well as overseas, the amazing power of God as demonstrated through providential history. And now, via Landmarks of the Faith Tours, I have the added privilege, Lord willing, of journeying with you to spectacular bonnie Scotland to witness the imprints of God's mighty hand during momentous times in history. To expand our historic journey, my wife Marilyn and I have invited our good friend and fellow historian Eric Leach to be our co-host, along with his lovely wife Amanda—both an integral part of the Landmarks team. Eric and Amanda bring adventure and spontaneity to the tour from on-site depictions of legendary battle maneuvers, to guided hikes through the heathered glens, to fun-filled competitive games for the young and the young at heart. As special guest we have invited Scotland's own beloved balladeer and brother in the Lord, Alastair McDonald, who captures the heart and history of Scotland in heroic song like none other.

The itinerary for our 11-day escorted Landmarks of the Faith Tour to Scotland has been thoughtfully planned with fellow history enthusiasts and homeschool families in mind—dads, moms, students of all ages, and grandparents, too. We'll visit ancient historic landmarks that have stood the test of time—the castles of Edinburgh, Stirling, and Dunnottar; the battlefields of Bannockburn, Stirling Bridge, and Culloden; the abbeys of Melrose, Arbroath, and Iona. We'll experience the Celtic mystique of the Highlands and Islands, the regal culture of the Lowlands, and the intrigue of the Borderlands as chronicled by Sir Walter Scott. And we've only just begun. We'll take time to recapture and reflect upon the faith-building accounts that Eric and I will share as we walk the steps of the Scottish heroes of history—William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, John Knox, and the Scottish Covenanters, to name a few of the notable Scots Worthies. For the conscientious and thrifty shopper, there will be ample time reserved for exploring the famous Edinburgh Woolen Mills for cashmere, kilts, and collectibles, as well as specialty shops for authentic Scottish swords, shields, and sgian dubhs, and all things tartan, of course!

As you will see from the travel map, our 2010 Landmarks of the Faith Tour also promises to be an all-encompassing, one-of-a-kind Land-Tour of a lifetime. It is my prayer that you will join the Landmarks of the Faith team as we experience together the living-history that strengthens our walk of faith while learning His-story! We sincerely hope and pray that the Lord will make a way for you to join us on our next tour to Scotland if this is a deep desire of your heart, as it is ours.

In His providential care,
